Alien Breed 2: Assault details
Team17 have officially announced the sequel to the digital remake of Alien Breed, which apparently met with ‘phenomenal success’. The first title went by the name Alien Breed: Evolution on XBLA and Alien Breed: Impact on PSN and PC, with the latter being released several months later but with additional features.The sequel, Alien Breed 2: Assault continues Conrad’s journey aboard the Leopold, a beaten and failing space craft. In addition to the game modes introduced in the first, Assault also adds a wealth of new and revamped features:
- ‘Survivor’ mode: Fight alone or with a friend co-operatively to survive waves of enemies in a range of spacious surroundings
- Set Pieces: “Fight the breed through stunningly choreographed action sequences.”
- New equipment and weapons:
- Hardened armor
- Hyper Blaster
- Rocket Launcher
- New enemies: An new ‘Webber’ alien enters the fray as well as a set of new dramatic and destructive bosses.
- New single-player campaign: Five new story levels to work your way through, directly following on from the first episode.
- Two-player co-op: As with the first in the series, Alien Breed 2: Assault will feature a dedicated set of challenges for two-player co-operative play.
There are also a couple of exclusive Xbox LIVE Avatar award items in the form of a ‘Barnes’ Helmet and Body Armour, the latter coming in both a male and female variety. These come as rewards for the player when they play through the game.
Alien Breed 2: Assault launches on 22nd September on Xbox LIVE Arcade (XBLA) and Steam. No price has been announced at this time, but a guesstimate puts it around 1200 MSP/£12.
